Gossiping

Had two girlie friends round for tea last night and spent most of it discussing their improving respective love lives. Ain't gossiping great?!

Dales Camping

Have been camping in the Dales for the last few days. Started off at Malham on Friday and went walking up to Malham Cove which is very impressive, and back through Janet's Foss. On Saturday we walked up Gordale Scar which involved some scary rock-climbing up a sheer cliff face next to the waterfall. Next, we upped tent and went to Hawes looking for another site, but being unable to find one that wasn't completely full, we ended up near Keld instead in a site that was more our style - a field with a great view, hardly anyone else in it and a simple but clean toilet and shower for £3 each. It would have been perfect except for the mosquitoes that took great delight in eating us in the late evening so to escape them we went to The Farmers Arms at Muker for a drink and meal. Did a nine mile walk on Sunday from the campsite to the Tan Hill Inn, apparently Britain's highest, and back along The Pennine Way to camp. On Monday we drove back to Hawes to the Wensleydale Creamery and did the museum and factory tour and sampled and bought far too many gorgeous cheeses. Then we came back home via Middleham Castle, the Brymore Ice Cream Factory and Aldborough Roman Camp. A great trip and the weather was absolutely gorgeous - I've got the sunburn to prove it.

London, 7th July 2005

Terrorists today bombed the London Underground in a number of locations and a bus above ground. Not much to say that hasn't already been said, apart from this giving me yet another reason why I'd absolutely never want to work in London. Fortunately, everyone we know is OK.

Attack! Attack!

Been working on the attic today to create some space in the loft space behind the wall for storage. Had to cut a big hole in the wall and put some boards down in the space behind. As it's been so hot the last couple of weeks, this was seriously not fun - I can confirm the loft insulation works well. Now have to put some doors on to cover the hole in the wall I've created.
