Merry Sodding Christmas

Bah, humbug! I'm a bit of a Scrooge at Christmas and this year is no exception. This years schedule is Christmas Day at Boots' Mum's, then her Dad over to ours on Boxing Day with New Year at my parents. I'm planning on drinking lots of festive red wine, if only to compensate for the presence of the brats on both days. Luckily though, Chrimbo shopping has been relatively pain free this year and I seem to have been organised enough to finish well before Christmas Eve unlike previous years!

New Car!

Very exciting - we've been out and bought a new car today. Have been looking around for a while and found (kind of) what we've been looking for - a shiny black Peugeot 206. Hopefully this one will last a bit longer than the previous two or three efforts!

Narrow Escape

Was wandering around the new Chapelfield shopping centre in Norwich today and narrowly avoided bumping into a girl I used to go out with many moons ago. No names, but she's put on a bit of weight and wasn't looking good which was a bit scary. Not everyone can be as gorgeous as me I guess!

ASP.NET

I managed to finish my first ASP.NET page today! It's written in C# and plots a graph for the site I'm (still) working on. I'd originally written the same thing in PHP but as that's a bitch to get working and because I'm learning C# anyway, this seemed like a good idea. I'm rather pleased with it actually - hopefully one day I'll eventually get the site live and unveil it to the world.

Christmas Party

It was the works Christmas Party this weekend. Unfortunately, both mine and Boots' had been arranged for the same night so we had to choose between York Racecourse or The Living Room. We chose the Racecourse which, in hindsight, was the right option as we had a really good night. A four course meal (turkey obviously) followed by disco, live band and casino were the order of the day. We got the obligatory photo taken, looked dead posh in full black tie regalia, drank and danced lots, won and lost lots of chips at roulette and then staggered home at some unearthly hour of the morning. A good night.

Exam Tension

Last night was Actuarial exam results night and we had a friend round to steal our Internet connection to check if she'd passed when the results were announced at the allotted time of 10pm. Having failed on the previous five occasions, hopes weren't high and they sank even lower when she saw that only 42% of people sitting it had passed. Fortunately, a few seconds later, lots of high pitched shrieking told us that, yes, she'd passed. It was all a bit tense before, but a positive result ensured we were able to carry on drinking for another hour or so afterwards! Well done Luff!
